World Rural Women's Day - 15 October 2007
A WWSF global awareness campaign to increase knowledge and empowerment |
It has been acknowledged that ending poverty must start in rural communities.
70% of those living in such impoverished condition are women. As such, the 2007 Open Letter to
Rural Women of the World will focus on empowering them to claim their basic rights. The next
e-News edition will include the Open Letter with the hope that it will inspire your
participation and advocacy. |

WWSF micro-credit program - the Mali Sheep Project
A contribution towards the realization of the UN Millennium Development Goals |
Last year, WWSF members and friends contributed enough funds allowing
rural women in the Mopti area of Mali to raise sheep (over 300) for their economic
development (US$ 12'000) and guarantee two meals per day. WWSF invites you to continue
to support this project and to read about the field trip to Mali and to meet some
of the courageous women of Africa.
