WWSF is an international, not-for-profit, humanitarian NGO network serving the advancement of women and children's rights, development and peace via its annual conferences, Calls to Action, campaigns, world days and prizes.
The first RURAL WOMEN MOVEMENTS Award goes to the Self Employed Women’s Association (SEWA India). The award money - US$ 10’000 - will be transmitted in October at a prize ceremony at the Maison de la Paix in Geneva, Switzerland. The Award Program and a description of the SEWA Movement are published on our website.
Awarded since 1994 by WWSF Women's World Summit Foundation - an international, non-profit, humanitarian NGO, serving the implementation of women and children's rights and the UN development agenda - the Prize (US$ 1000 per laureate) honors women and women's groups around the world exhibiting exceptional creativity, courage and commitment for the improvement of the quality of life in rural communities (432 prizes awarded so far).
